MEDIUM / PROCESS

Adrian Bermeo’s paintings are predominantly made with acrylic, ink, and spray paint – with occasions of various medias such as coffee grounds, intentionally mixed into his pigments for textured qualities and childhood references.

Through gestural drawing and abstract forms that reemerge in his expressive works, Bermeo’s subjects of portraits, still-life’s, and spiritual deities display layered compositions of embedded messages and intuitive mark making; resonating with the artist’s foundations and principles in graffiti.

BRIEF BIO

Adrian Bermeo is a self-taught visual artist, born and raised in Queens, NY. His expressionist portraits and abstract symbolism – described by the painter as living letters – are a reflection of personal experiences and culturally significant influences from the artist’s background of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent.

Bermeo’s paintings confront social dualities which challenge conventional narratives; highlighting moments of beauty and grace that endure from the imperfections of human nature. His professional practice includes exhibiting art, graphic design, self-publishing, gallery curation, and collaborating with community organizations and museums as a teaching artist and production assistant.
