Imperfections, curated by Adrian Bermeo, is a duo exhibition featuring artists Bree Chapin and Cavier at Local Project Art Space in Queens, New York, from May 7–21, 2022. Examining the relationship between art, mental health, and personal healing, the exhibition brought together large-scale abstract paintings and monochromatic portraits to address emotional struggles, substance abuse, and unresolved trauma. In response to the social conditions that followed 2020, Imperfections opened a dialogue around therapy, self-reflection, and the role of creative expression in confronting personal challenges. The exhibition emphasized art-making as a means of processing lived experience, finding joy, and creating positive change within ourselves and our communities. The exhibition was made possible with support from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
