Kro-Matic, presented by Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, is a group exhibition featuring monochromatic works by 10 New York-based visual artists, employing unique hues from each individual, to exercise the emotional responses to color. Curated by Adrian Bermeo, the exhibition brings together distinct visual languages and subject matter from a spectrum of cultural backgrounds, forming a larger dialogue on perception, individuality, and collective understanding. By isolating color as a central focal point, each artist prompts viewers to consider how differences can coexist meaningfully within a shared space. Rather than promoting conformity, Kro-Matic celebrates the power of uniqueness, contributing to a broader empathetic perspective—one that urges us to see with more depth, complexity, and compassion beyond the immediate self.
