FEATURED ARTIST AT CALL ME MIA, 2025
NOV 21—DEC 21 2025
CALL ME MIA: 363 2nd St. Jersey City, NJ
Call Me Mia is proud to present the first featured artist to exhibit throughout the cafe, with a number of public engagements going on through December 21.
Created over the past several weeks, Bermeo’s newest body of work explores ancestry, lineage, and communal exchange through portraiture and representational paintings; letting gesture, memory, and mark-making, guide a visual language shaped by his Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian roots. Within this collection, his “Domino-Glyphs” act as communal maps, referencing gatherings, storytelling, and shared rituals, while his portraits serve as emotional stand-ins for unseen complexities of race and heritage. Together, these elements form a constellation of coded symbols and intuitive forms that speak to the fluid intersections between personal identity and collective experience, offering a textured look at the cultural forces that shape belonging.
