In his redolent debut, New York City-born visual artist Adrian Bermeo shares an opus of censorial experiences, childhood memories, and historical context, while introspectively examining a love/hate relationship attached to a beacon on capitalist. Compiled of 93 original haiku–along with selected drawings and paintings made from 2014 to 2025–Bermeo bluntly narrates the tragic and comical awareness the a capitalist mecca in American; balancing grief, hope, and tensions between cultural appreciation versus appropriation. Sardonic yet heartfelt, Haiku of a New York Minute captures a rawness of NYC’s imperfections and social triumphs, serving as an autobiographical snapshot of obscure observations, cathartic reflections, and a sense of international pride.
